The final fight of Jose Aldo`s career is set to be remembered for a long time, and not solely for the expected reasons.
On the main card of UFC 315 on Saturday, the former featherweight champion suffered a debated split decision loss to Aiemann Zahabi. Zahabi secured the victory with three scores of 29-28 following a tough three-round contest. Both competitors had impactful moments and came close to finishing the fight in the third round; Aldo staggered Zahabi with an early head kick, while Zahabi almost stopped Aldo with ground-and-pound in the later stages.
Although Aldo reached the judges` scorecards, he was not declared the winner, marking his third loss via decision in his last four bouts.
The decision sparked significant outrage on social media, with fighter Renato Moicano notably labeling the scoring a “f*cking robbery.” However, attention soon turned to the 38-year-old Aldo removing his fighting gloves after the official announcement of the outcome.
Subsequently, during his post-fight interview, Aldo stated, “I think this is the last time you`re going to see me.”
