Former world number nine, Andrey Chesnokov, has shared his thoughts on Daniil Medvedev`s disappointing showing at the Miami Masters.
Chesnokov stated that Medvedev has clearly had an unsuccessful first part of the season. He noted that after Medvedev reached the semi-finals in Indian Wells, there were expectations for improvement, but he suffered another early loss. Chesnokov speculated that Medvedev might have been experimenting with new strings in Miami that he wasn`t accustomed to, leading to a poor performance. He concluded that even if it was just an experiment, the current situation offers little reason for optimism.
Chesnokov further commented, suggesting that Medvedev might have switched to natural gut strings for his match against Munar, which Chesnokov believes are not suitable for Medvedev`s playing style due to their specific characteristics.
