During Brazil’s friendly against France in the United States this week, Endrick addressed questions about his future. The 19-year-old striker confirmed that he has not yet discussed his long-term plans with Real Madrid, which will follow the conclusion of his loan period at Olympique Lyonnais.
Signed by Real Madrid, Endrick has been on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, where he has enjoyed a successful initial period in Ligue 1. While the 19-year-old striker hopes to help Lyon secure a spot in the next Champions League, his future is expected to lie away from the French club. Loaned without a purchase option by Real, Endrick is set to return to Madrid at the end of the season. However, he admitted he hasn’t yet discussed his future with the Real Madrid management.
“We haven’t discussed it yet. I’m focused on Lyon,” Endrick stated to AS newspaper while training with the Brazilian national team ahead of their match against France. He added, “I will support Real Madrid in the Champions League, but I am completely invested in Lyon.”
Focused on Lyon, Endrick Supports Real Madrid in Champions League
When asked about his time in Lyon and in Ligue 1, Endrick affirmed that he is enjoying a good period at OL. While the club’s recent results haven’t met the ambitions of the management or the coaching staff – Lyon is currently on an eight-game winless streak across all competitions – Endrick himself has recorded one goal and three assists during this challenging spell, facing some criticism after a sensational start in France.
Before considering a potential return to Real Madrid, Endrick made his current focus clear: “I am fully concentrated on Lyon, on our rivals. For Real Madrid, I obviously wish them the best, especially in the Champions League,” stated the talented player on loan from the ‘merengue’ club. He added, “My future is next week. The next opponent. It’s essential for my preparation to always concentrate on what I can improve for training and the next day’s match.”
Endrick Still Needs to Prove Himself with Brazil and OL
Before returning to OL to participate in the final sprint of Ligue 1, Endrick might play some minutes this Thursday against the French national team in a prestigious friendly in Boston (9 PM EST) between the Seleção and Les Bleus.
Despite the presence of the current coach on the Seleção bench, the 19-year-old striker still needs to secure his place in the Brazilian starting eleven for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. This is a crucial step before he potentially aims to do the same at Real Madrid next season.
However, before dreaming of shining in Spain, Endrick must also conclude his chapter in Lyon. Ideally, by rediscovering the effectiveness he showed in his initial weeks, he can return to Madrid with strong arguments to establish himself there.
