World No. 10 Emma Navarro recently opened up about how she views conversations regarding her family`s financial standing. Emma`s father, Ben Navarro, is a billionaire known for owning prominent tennis tournaments in Charleston and Cincinnati.
Speaking about the public perception, Navarro stated in an interview with Tatler:
I don`t read anything – no comments, no articles, nothing. I don`t know what the fans say. Of course, headlines mentioning that my father is a billionaire appear, and that`s fine. But I didn`t grow up with everything handed to me easily.
We grew up in quite traditional conditions. We`d be up at 6 AM on a Saturday to go play tennis… From a young age, it was instilled in us to be resilient, hardworking, goal-oriented, and productive. So, I really don`t like being referred to as `the daughter of so-and-so with such-and-such wealth.` That label really doesn`t sit well with me.
