World No. 20 Ekaterina Alexandrova commented on her second-round victory over Elisabetta Cocciaretto at `Roland Garros`, winning 6-1, 6-3.
“I had a good match, especially in the first set, everything came together well. I knew the second set wouldn`t be as easy. A real battle ensued, but overall, everything was under control.
Before `Roland Garros`, I missed two tournaments – considering this period without matches, I think I`m playing quite well. Moving forward, in the match against Veronika [Kudermetova], it`s important to focus specifically on myself.
It`s important for me to continue playing the way I`m trying to now, in a new way: not rushing. Even if a rally doesn`t unfold as I`d like, not trying to force it. Before, I might try to hit a winner on any ball, comfortable or not, but now I`m trying to wait for a more suitable moment. Even if I don`t like doing it this way.”
