UFC Kansas City experienced a significant change to its lineup.
Records indicate that Ahmad Hassanzada was arrested in Sacramento, California, on Saturday for alleged sexual misconduct against a minor. Hassanzada faces felony charges, including a lewd act with a child under 14 years old.
News reports initially broke the story.
Hassanzada is currently detained in Sacramento County Jail with bail set at $400,000. His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning, according to official records.
The 28-year-old Hassanzada was slated to compete against Evan Elder at Saturday`s Fight Night event before his arrest. UFC announced that newcomer Gauge Young will now replace Hassanzada to face Elder.
Hassanzada secured his UFC contract after a third-round submission victory over Dylan Mantello on Dana White`s Contender Series last September. Born in Afghanistan, the lightweight fighter previously participated in DWCS in August 2022, where he was defeated by Nazim Sadykhov. However, he recovered and achieved a 3-1 record in his subsequent four fights.
UFC officials have confirmed that Hassanzada is no longer under contract with the organization. Reports initially surfaced regarding his release.
