Zakaria Eddahchouri, a player for Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna, is currently receiving hospital observation following an incident where he fell from a seaside promenade onto rocks while attempting to take a selfie. The club has confirmed he sustained only minor injuries during the fall in the coastal city of A Coruna.
In an official statement released Saturday, RC Deportivo stated, “RC Deportivo confirms that player Zakaria Eddahchouri is under observation at a hospital in A Coruna after a setback suffered yesterday.” The club added, “After the first examination, the footballer has minor injuries and is being treated by the corresponding medical team.” They publicly acknowledged and thanked the emergency services for their swift response and indicated that they would provide further updates on Eddahchouri`s condition.
Local media reports indicate that emergency services, including firefighters and an ambulance, were alerted and dispatched to the scene overnight after someone was reported to have fallen onto the rocks. Eddahchouri was reportedly rescued from the rocks using a ladder before being transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Eddahchouri, who is from the Netherlands, joined Deportivo La Coruna in January. Since then, he has made six appearances for his new team, scoring two goals. Depor is currently positioned 13th in Spain`s second division. The player participated in their most recent match on Saturday, playing the full 90 minutes in a loss against Granada.
Further specific details regarding the extent of Eddahchouri`s injuries or an expected timeframe for his return to football activities have not yet been released.
Deportivo La Coruna has two matches remaining in the Segunda Division schedule. Their season will conclude on June 1 with a home fixture against Elche, a club that has already secured its promotion to La Liga for the 2025-26 campaign.
