Celebrities Drake and Conor McGregor are making significant wagers on the major fights at UFC 314.
Prior to Saturday`s pay-per-view event in Miami, both celebrities revealed substantial bets in partnership with their gambling sponsors.
Drake announced on Instagram that he is betting $545,000 on Alexander Volkanovski, the favorite, to defeat Diego Lopes in the main event and reclaim the UFC featherweight championship.
If Volkanovski is victorious, the Canadian rapper is set to win $915,000.
This win would be crucial for Volkanovski, who is looking to rebound after recent knockout losses in championship matches against Ilia Topuria and lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. The 36-year-old aims to become the first fighter in UFC history to secure an undisputed title after suffering consecutive losses.
Lopes enters this fight on a five-fight winning streak since losing a decision to undefeated featherweight contender Movsar Evloev on short notice.
McGregor is also participating in the betting action. He shared a video on Twitter showing his $500,000 bet on his longtime rival Michael Chandler to not only defeat Paddy Pimblett in Saturday’s co-main event but to knock out “The Baddy”.
Chandler, a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion, is considered the underdog against Pimblett, having lost his last two fights and four of his six UFC appearances. Pimblett has an undefeated 6-0 record in the octagon.
