World No. 55 David Goffin shared his thoughts on defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of the Miami Masters, with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. This marks the Belgian player`s 20th career win against a Top 10 opponent.
“It`s amazing. Sometimes matches are tough and you have to fight, like in the first round [against Alexander Vukic]. It`s great to play a second-round match in the stadium. I feel good, and this is why I continue my career – to play these kinds of matches in big arenas, showing a high level of tennis. I try to enjoy these moments.”
“Physically, I felt well, I was ready to compete and had a good feeling for the ball. It`s enjoyable when you feel good and relish every point. Ultimately, the end of the match and the match point were perfect. The sensations are fantastic,” Goffin said in an on-court interview.
Carlos Alcaraz on his loss to Goffin: I wasn`t injured, nothing was bothering me. But at the end of the second set, my legs started to get tired.
