World No. 8 Daniil Medvedev has shared his thoughts on the impressive performances of Mirra Andreeva, who recently triumphed at tournaments in Dubai and Indian Wells.
“I`m not one to put undue pressure on fellow tennis players. She`s playing exceptionally well. Winning a title is one thing, but defeating the caliber of opponents Mirra has faced in both tournaments is another level. She`s playing incredibly cool. I hope she continues this way. I also hope we get the chance to play together,” commented Medvedev, alluding to the possibility of partnering with Andreeva in mixed doubles, perhaps at the Paris Olympics.
Medvedev was also asked about Alexander Ovechkin`s proximity to breaking Wayne Gretzky`s all-time NHL record for regular-season goals.
“I see that the record is very close now, just seven more goals to go. I really hope he surpasses this record. While most probably believe he will, anything can happen in sports. I`m rooting for him to break Gretzky`s record. It would be unbelievably amazing. What more can I say? It`s a phenomenal record – many probably thought it would never be broken. So, it`s truly fantastic,” Medvedev stated, as reported by `Sport-Express`.
