He even volunteered to step in as a potential backup fighter for the planned UFC 316 bantamweight title rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley.
This recent win marked Sandhagen`s return to the win column following a loss to Umar Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC Abu Dhabi back in August. When discussions arise about the potential title picture for the exciting bantamweight contender, some fans frequently point to that specific loss as their primary argument against him receiving a title shot. Sandhagen lightheartedly addressed this in a recent Instagram video where he humorously portrayed a conversation with a doubting fan, playing both roles himself.
He captioned the post saying, “This is some of y’all right now and it doesn’t even bother you.”

His recent run also includes main event victories over notable opponents such as Rob Font, Marlon Vera, and Song Yadong. The 33-year-old is currently in a strong strategic position, not only coming off an impressive win but also presenting a fresh and intriguing stylistic matchup for either of the potential champions, Dvalishvili or O’Malley.
