Cristian Chivu, the coach of Inter Milan, remains steadfast in his team’s focus despite a shift in Como’s approach and the recent draw involving Napoli. He stated, “This changes nothing as far as we are concerned,” emphasizing Inter’s commitment to their own performance and objectives.
Inter is set to face Como at the Stadio Sinigaglia. The match carries significant weight in the Scudetto race, especially after Napoli was held to a 1-1 draw by Parma earlier in the day. A victory for Inter would extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points.
Chivu highlighted Inter’s dedication to their own game, acknowledging the challenge posed by an ambitious Como side vying for a Champions League spot. “We are focused on our own competitiveness, knowing it will not be easy against an ambitious team that is aiming for the Champions League,” Chivu told DAZN Italia. “We know full well that we are going to require a very strong performance to get the points here today.”
Despite a previous 0-0 draw against Como in the Coppa Italia semi-final, where the second leg is scheduled for April 21, Chivu stressed the importance of maintaining their tactical approach. “I told my team we mustn’t change our shape, we have to follow what we prepared in training and understand the various moments of the match,” he said. “This changes nothing as far as we are concerned, we need to build on what we have done recently, showing courage and confidence.”
Inter faces personnel challenges with Lautaro Martinez ruled out due to a fresh muscular injury, alongside Yann Bisseck. However, Martinez will be on the bench to support his teammates. Chivu expressed confidence in the entire squad, stating, “Lautaro was on the field last week, but I won’t forget the performances of Thuram, Esposito, Calhanoglu, all those who showed leadership, determination and character, they can do the same today.”
Como’s own aspirations are also at stake, as only a win will secure their fourth-place position, with Juventus having already moved ahead in the Serie A standings.
