Charles Oliveira has been named the recipient of the 2025 Forrest Griffin Community Award.
Presented annually as part of the International Fight Week honors, the Forrest Griffin Community Award is personally selected by UFC CEO Dana White and recognizes fighters for their significant charitable contributions. During Saturday`s UFC Kansas City event, Oliveira was announced as this year`s honoree, specifically for his extensive efforts with the Charles doBronxs Institute. This institute is dedicated to offering hundreds of local young people in Sao Paulo opportunities for a better future by providing free programs in arts, education, nutrition, and jiu-jitsu.
He is scheduled to officially receive the award at the 2025 UFC Hall of Fame ceremony in June.
Commenting on the decision, UFC CEO Dana White stated, “Charles is more than just a great athlete; he`s an incredible role model dedicated to giving back to his community. His work providing free education and jiu-jitsu training at his institute in Sao Paulo does an outstanding job helping local youth create better lives for themselves. It`s an honor to present him with this award.”
As part of the recognition, the former UFC lightweight champion will also receive a $25,000 donation from the UFC Foundation, directed towards a charity of his choosing.
Charles Oliveira is currently awaiting confirmation of his next assignment in the octagon.
