Preview Champions League final: PSG jump out to two-goal first-half lead over Inter through Achraf Hakimi, Desire Doue

Paris Saint-Germain quickly asserted dominance in the Champions League final, scoring twice within 20 minutes as Achraf Hakimi and Desire Doue capitalized on poor defending by Inter inside their box.

PSG`s opening goal showcased their excellent form in 2025. It started with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia`s run down the left wing into the box. The play moved centrally through Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha, who then passed to Desire Doue in a dangerous position with multiple possibilities.

Doue made the right choice, squaring the ball for Hakimi to easily tap into an open net. This is the PSG right-back`s fourth goal this season, following important strikes in the quarterfinals and semifinals. For Hakimi, a former Inter player (2020-21), the goal was significant, though he chose not to celebrate against his old club.

This goal marked PSG`s first-ever score in a Champions League final, as they aimed to surpass their 2020 performance when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich. It was also a deserved outcome for their strong, high-pressing, and technically confident start.

Their dominance continued after the first goal. PSG`s second goal highlighted the fluid movement of their attackers. Ousmane Dembele, playing centrally, led a counter-attack down the left. The ball eventually reached the impressive Doue, whose shot deflected, leaving goalkeeper Yann Sommer helpless.

Inter, especially Federico Dimarco, might feel they could have defended both goals better. On the first goal, the Italian international was caught out of position, trailing behind the defense while trying to track Hakimi`s run into the box, effectively playing him onside.

Regarding PSG`s second goal, Dimarco had limited options once Doue shot. However, he arguably shouldn`t have turned his back. His deflection was unfortunately perfect, sending the ball past the keeper to double PSG`s lead. He might wonder for years if the outcome would have been different had he faced the shot directly.
