Following his submission loss to Jean Silva at UFC 314, Bryce Mitchell addressed his fans, offering his perspective on the fight.
The fight against Silva quickly became a major talking point of the event, with Silva delivering a dominant and impressive performance. He showcased striking skills and superior grappling, ultimately securing a ninja choke submission in the second round, putting Mitchell to sleep. Silva`s dominance was evident throughout the fight.
Mitchell turned to social media after the event to speak about the loss and his disappointment with the outcome, which he clearly had not anticipated.
“Thank you to everyone for the support. I’m doing well,” Mitchell stated on Instagram. “Thank God I’m okay. No broken bones or lost teeth, so I’m grateful. I fought as hard as I could, I don`t think I could have given more effort. I could have fought smarter though.”
“I’m going to work on improving, but he got me with a submission. I gave it my all. I’m okay with knowing I tried my best, but I need to improve. That’s the key takeaway here, I must get better.”
The fight concluded a challenging period for Mitchell. After making controversial statements on a podcast, he faced significant backlash and shifted from being a fan favorite to a more criticized figure.
During a pre-fight press conference with Silva, Mitchell experienced boos from the audience, a new experience for him.
Despite this, Mitchell mentioned feeling support from fans who remained by his side as he entered the fight.
“I’ve never felt this level of support,” Mitchell shared. “It’s been an intense week, hard to describe.”
“I truly believed I would win. Absolutely. This fight felt huge, and I thought it was a sign I was meant to win. But it didn`t go that way.”
This submission loss marks Mitchell`s third defeat in his last five fights, including a knockout loss to Josh Emmett in 2023.
Despite the pain of defeat, Mitchell is committed to learning and improving for his next UFC appearance.
“I’m just going to keep fighting. That’s all I can do,” Mitchell said. “That’s all any of us can do. When you lose, you learn and keep moving forward. That’s my plan.”
