Following a frightening first-round knockout loss to Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 315 in Montreal on Saturday night, Bruno Silva was taken out of the octagon on a stretcher for medical attention.
During the event broadcast, the UFC reported that Silva, known as “Blindado,” had been transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation after experiencing neck pain. The promotion added that he remained conscious and could move all of his limbs.
Several hours after the event concluded, Silva provided an update on his condition via his Instagram account, assuring fans that he was doing well.
“I`m writing to let you know I`m okay,” Silva posted in Portuguese. “I went to the hospital, had tests done, and everything is fine with my health.”
Silva had previously spoken openly about the mental health challenges he faced leading up to recent fights, stating he focused on treatment after receiving what he described as a final opportunity from UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard.
Now likely finished with the promotion following five consecutive defeats, including the first knockout loss of his 36-fight professional career, Silva expressed regret about not securing a victory that would have allowed him to share his message with a wider audience.
“I`ve received many messages from people who truly care about me,” Silva wrote. “I was feeling good, I wanted to win so I could share my message about everything I went through to get back on my feet, but that`s life. I am a winner, and this moment will not end my story and my legacy. All honor and glory to God.”
Silva departs the UFC with a promotional record of 4 wins and 7 losses. All of his victories within the organization came by knockout, including finishes against notable opponents like Brad Tavares and Jordan Wright.
Across the octagon, Canada`s Marc-Andre Barriault snapped a three-fight losing streak with this significant victory on home soil, improving his overall mixed martial arts record to 17-9 with 1 No Contest.
