Boston Legacy FC, the newest expansion team joining the National Women`s Soccer League (NWSL) as the 15th club, has officially revealed its team crest as part of its rebrand. They are set to debut alongside fellow expansion side, Denver NWSL, in the 2026 regular season.
This follows an initial branding reveal in October 2024 that received considerable criticism, leading the club to rebrand as Boston Legacy FC. The official unveiling of the new crest, team colors (green, black, and white), and overall branding occurred on Saturday.
Jennifer Epstein, Boston Legacy FC`s controlling manager, commented on the unveiling, stating, “This crest is another step in building a new sporting legacy in Boston.” She added that swans were chosen to represent the club`s core values of integrity, grit, and style, noting their reputation for loyalty, territorial defense, and their status as iconic figures in Boston`s parks and waterways. Epstein expressed excitement for fans and players to wear the crest for the 2026 kickoff at Gillette Stadium, looking forward to the future move to White Stadium, developed in partnership with the City of Boston.
Designed by graphic designer Matthew Wolff over a five-month period, the crest features the team colors green, black, and white. The central element is a swan. The design incorporates eight feathers, symbolizing the original eight NWSL teams, a group that included the former Boston Breakers, which ceased operations due to financial issues before the 2018 season. The angles forming the swan`s wings are inspired by Boston`s distinctive Zakim Bridge.
While White Stadium is currently undergoing renovations, delays mean the team`s inaugural 2026 season will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. This makes Boston Legacy the first women`s professional soccer team to host its regular season matches at the NFL venue. The move to White Stadium is anticipated for the 2027 season.
