Former world number one Boris Becker shared his thoughts on whether Novak Djokovic might have played his last French Open this year.
Becker mused: “When I think back to that evening, I get goosebumps again. This had to happen sooner or later. He`s 38, and he`s having an average season. The semi-final in Melbourne was good, the final in Miami was great. But on clay, apart from his performance in Geneva, he didn`t achieve the desired result. He has to ask himself: if he`s not winning as much anymore, why continue?”
“He is aiming for 25 Grand Slam titles, that`s his goal. I believe he is still strong on grass. That surface is easier for him than clay. And considering his play last week, why wouldn`t he be able to achieve that goal? But what about in a year… Who knows if we will see him at Roland Garros again?”
