Belal Muhammad isn`t fazed by two former champions vying for his attention during UFC 315 fight week.
As he prepares for his title defense against Jack Della Maddalena this Saturday, Muhammad addressed recent remarks from Kamaru Usman. Usman had suggested security might be needed to separate them backstage at an event due to simmering animosity. With Usman`s June fight booked, he claimed his hostility towards Muhammad would increase if they crossed paths.
However, Muhammad doesn`t appear concerned about a possible confrontation.
“Who? The former champion with three straight losses?” Muhammad retorted about Usman at the UFC 315 media day. “Should I be scared of that guy with no knees, no cartilage, and a big head? No, I think I`ll be fine.”
Muhammad also commented on a contentious podcast episode he recorded with Usman and former two-division champion Henry Cejudo that was never released. Muhammad stated the discussion became heated, and Usman reportedly became very emotional, which he believes led to the episode being withheld.
“If you`re a grown man and you start crying and tearing up on your own podcast, why would you release it?” Muhammad questioned. “Unless they have a really good editor to fix it, but I doubt they have the budget for that.”
Muhammad also fired back at former interim champion Colby Covington, who tried to provoke him by visiting the UFC Performance Institute this week.
In a social media video, Covington was seen laughing about hiding Muhammad`s prepared meals and calling the current UFC welterweight champion a “bum.”
Covington, who has lost his last two fights since beating Jorge Masvidal in 2022, seemed pleased with his actions. However, Muhammad quickly pointed out that he is fighting in Montreal this week, not in Las Vegas where the UFC Performance Institute is located.
“He hid my food? I`m not even in Vegas,” Muhammad stated. “That shows what a moron he is. I have no idea what he`s trying to do.”
“These guys are acting like internet personalities now,” Muhammad concluded. “Kamaru`s a podcaster, Colby`s a YouTuber. They should do a podcast together – the biggest losers.”
