Belal Muhammad is actively seeking a fight against fellow former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. While a matchup between two top contenders and former titleholders makes sense professionally, Muhammad`s strong desire for the bout is fueled by a personal history between them.

Their past interactions include an appearance by Muhammad on Usman`s “Pound-4-Pound” podcast last year, co-hosted by Henry Cejudo. According to reports, the discussion became so intense that the episode was never publicly released. Allegations of a physical confrontation during the recording have surfaced, although specific details remain scarce. Muhammad suggests he knows why the podcast episode has not seen the light of day.

Recounting the incident, Muhammad told Home of Fight:

“I was on his podcast and made him cry. Afterward, blows were exchanged. Suddenly, the recording seemed to vanish from the cloud; it`s just gone, missing. Perhaps if our fight happens, they`ll release it for promotion, similar to the Khabib-Conor bus drama.”

Muhammad reiterated his claim about Usman`s emotional state:

“Usman cried. Tears were literally coming from his eyes. If you`re curious to see it, maybe that explains why he`s allegedly trying to edit it or use AI to alter it.”

He speculated on Usman`s reaction during the podcast, suggesting it stemmed from a difficult realization:

“His ego is enormous. When you speak with him and point out that he isn`t at his past level or the person he perceives himself to be, I don`t believe he can handle that, either mentally or physically.”

Despite Muhammad`s clear interest, the fight`s potential is uncertain. Following his recent victory over Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta, Usman downplayed the possibility of facing Muhammad, stating his immediate focus is on securing another shot at the welterweight title. However, Muhammad believes Usman should hold off on title aspirations for now.

Muhammad argued that a fight between them is currently one of the biggest and most logical matchups in the division:

“Considering the welterweight division`s top contenders, we are currently two of the most prominent names. A fight makes perfect sense given our verbal exchanges, shared history, and that unreleased podcast incident.”

Should the fight eventually materialize, Muhammad expressed absolute confidence in his ability to win.

He predicted a dominant performance:

“He would be completely dominated. There are distinct levels in this sport. I`ve studied him and wanted this fight for a long time because I know our styles match up very favorably for me. He might have looked good against Buckley, but he won`t take me down, out-strike me, or outlast me in terms of cardio. That`s why I suspect he`s avoiding me, looking for easier opponents, mentioning middleweight title fights, and other unrelated things. He`s clearly delusional.”
