UFC heavyweight fighter Tom Aspinall, while attending UFC London, took a playful jab at Jon Jones.
During the broadcast of Saturday`s fight night, cameras showed Aspinall in the audience. Initially serious, the top-ranked heavyweight suddenly held up a toy duck and made a wide-eyed expression towards the camera. This duck gesture is widely understood as a veiled insult aimed at Jones, who seems reluctant to agree to a fight with Aspinall.
Jon Jones is the current undisputed UFC heavyweight champion. He won the vacant title by defeating Ciryl Gane after Francis Ngannou left the UFC in 2023, and then defended it against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.
When a Jones-Miocic fight was postponed from UFC 295, Aspinall stepped in and defeated Sergei Pavlovich to become the interim champion. He defended his interim title against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. Although Aspinall has stated he is willing to defend his belt against anyone, he continues to push for a fight against Jones.
UFC CEO Dana White has expressed optimism that the unification fight will happen, recently telling TNT Sports that it`s now just a matter of finalizing the agreement and getting it signed.
