World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus has surpassed the 10,000 WTA ranking points mark. She increased her total to 10,191 points at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, USA, after a dominant semi-final victory over Italy`s Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
This achievement makes Sabalenka the eighth female player since 2009, when the modern ranking system was introduced, to reach the 10,000-point milestone. Previously, this feat was accomplished by Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki, Ashleigh Barty, and Iga Swiatek.
In the final, 26-year-old Sabalenka will compete for the title against the winner of the match between American Jessica Pegula and Alexandra Eala of the Philippines. Their match is scheduled to take place on the night of March 27-28.
