Two-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion Andrey Olkhovskiy has commented on Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev dropping out of the ATP Top 10 rankings.
Following the conclusion of the Madrid Masters, the ATP Top 10 will feature no Russian players for the first time since June 2019. Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev, who were previously ranked 8th and 10th respectively, are set to fall out of the elite group in the latest rankings update on Monday.
Olkhovskiy expressed confidence that this situation is temporary.
I think the situation is quite fixable. Danya Medvedev is not far away, and one or two successful tournaments could already bring him back into the top ten. Andrey Rublev was unable to defend his biggest title from last year, so now he needs to start accumulating wins again. I think in the foreseeable future at least one of them will return to the top ten.
