Andrei Olkhovsky, a two-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion, has shared his thoughts on the disappointing performances of Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev at the Miami Masters.
Both prominent tennis players experienced early exits from the tournament, losing their opening matches.
When asked about whether Rublev and Medvedev are facing increased difficulty competing with the younger generation of tennis players, Olkhovsky suggested this might be the case. He noted that younger players are demonstrating a more aggressive style of play, combined with increased patience and ball control, making them unafraid to engage in extended rallies and attack when necessary. Olkhovsky believes that to effectively compete and win against these emerging talents, Rublev and Medvedev will need to further develop their game, implying that their previous level of play might now be insufficient.
