Alexandra Eala, the 19-year-old Filipino tennis sensation currently ranked No. 140 in the world, has spoken about how her recent success at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, USA, could catalyze the development of tennis in her home nation.
“I sincerely hope that my achievements can contribute to positive changes. The most meaningful way for me to give back to my country is by inspiring people to pick up a racket and watch more tennis,” Eala shared.
She further elaborated, “I firmly believe that tennis in the Philippines possesses significant untapped potential. Even though it`s not as mainstream as other sports here, we have a wealth of talented athletes. If we can secure the necessary support and capture the public`s attention, Philippine tennis is capable of reaching remarkable heights.”
