Renowned Russian coach and commentator Alexander Kalivod has shared his thoughts on Daniil Medvedev`s recent loss to Jaume Munar in the second round of the Miami Masters, where Medvedev was defeated 2-6, 3-6.

Kalivod noted, “Unfortunately, Medvedev has been experiencing a series of defeats lately. His signature powerful shots have diminished, and his serve has lost its sharpness. While he brought Gilles Simon into his coaching team last year, Simon`s career was built on a defensive, `grinding` style, waiting for opponents to make errors.”

Kalivod suggests a different approach is needed: “In my opinion, Daniil requires a coach who can focus on developing his attacking game. Currently, he seems to lack proactivity and aggression in his play.”

It was also reported that Daniil Medvedev commented on his defeat in Miami, stating, “My back was very painful, making it difficult to move.”
