Fresh from securing an NBA championship and earning both regular-season and Finals MVP honors, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a nominee in two ESPYS categories: Best Athlete – Men`s Sports and Best NBA Player. His team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, is also nominated for Best Team after winning a thrilling Game 7 against the Indiana Pacers.
Highlighting their exceptional performances at the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, several athletes have received ESPYS nominations. Simone Biles and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone are recognized in the Best Athlete – Women`s Sports category, while Ilona Maher and Ezra Frech are nominees for Best Breakthrough Athlete and Best Athlete with a Disability, respectively.
A`ja Wilson, who claimed both Best Athlete – Women`s Sports and Best WNBA Player awards in 2024, is nominated in both categories again this year. Saquon Barkley received nominations in three categories: Best Athlete – Men`s Sports, Best Play, and Best NFL Player. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen joins Barkley as the only other NFL player nominated for both Best NFL Player and Best Athlete – Men`s Sports.
