The Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the only team competition on the PGA Tour calendar, is set to take place this week at TPC Louisiana.
This year`s event features a 160-player field forming 80 two-player teams. Leading the participants are defending champions Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, the Ryder Cup teammates who secured victory last season after defeating Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer in a playoff.
For Rory McIlroy, this marks his first competitive appearance since achieving the career Grand Slam with his win at the 2025 Masters.
Tournament Format
Following 36 holes of play, a cut will be made, with the top 33 teams and ties advancing to the weekend rounds. The championship team will be determined over four rounds, consisting of two rounds of foursomes (alternate shot) and two rounds of four-ball (best ball). The victorious duo will each receive $1,329,400 in prize money and 400 FedEx Cup points.
Since adopting the team format in 2017, the event has frequently paired players based on their home countries, colleges, or personal connections. The current tournament scoring record stands at 30-under 258, set in 2023 by the team of Nick Hardy and Davis Riley.
