Unsurprisingly, Scottie Scheffler (+440) and Rory McIlroy (+450) are listed as the top contenders in the early betting odds. Scheffler recently secured his first win of the season at the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour, overcoming a reportedly slow start to the year. He aims to carry this recent success to the top of the leaderboard in Charlotte. Scheffler plans to skip the Truist Championship this weekend to rest and prepare specifically for the PGA Championship.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy enters the tournament having just won his first green jacket at the Masters, thus completing his career grand slam. A victory at Quail Hollow would mark a significant step towards potentially achieving a modern grand slam within a single calendar year.
